2024 New Home Trends

Want to know what’s trending in the home and building industry? The NAHB’s (National Association of Home Builders) recent study What Home Buyers Really Want had some enlightening info!

  • Smaller Homes: The country’s average size of a new home in 2023 was 2,411 sq feet, which is the smallest size in 13 years! Smaller homes are trending locally as well. Due in part to rising cost and increased interest rates, but also an increased interest in multi-generational homes. At AJW, we love this trend since we have 2 employees who have had their aging parents live with them.
  • Transitional over Traditional: Concepts such as great rooms and high ceilings remain desirable, coupled with modern elements like LED lighting, a mix of stained and painted cabinetry, black window frames and pantries with a dishwasher inside!
  • Technology: Features like security cameras, wired home security systems, programmable thermostats, video doorbells, multizone HVAC systems and other “smart home” concepts that make life easier are a must-have for most buyers, builders and renovators.

How can we help you find, build or create your perfect 2024 home?

Mark Your Calendar!

The 23rd annual Scottish Fest & Highland Games is Saturday, June 15th from 9am to 6pm in the Prosser Wine and Food Park. What can you expect to enjoy? Here are a few of the highlights:

Anvil Launch (very loud)

  • Every Scottish Fest since the beginning has started and ended with the boom of black powder and the billowing grey smoke of the infamous anvil launch.
  • The Split-The-Pot anvil launch ends the festival and games. If the anvil lands nearest to your plate (paper, of course), you won! You split the pot with a local charity or service organization.

Children’s Activities at Wee Scotland

  • Clan Passport Game
  • Coloring pages
  • Decorate your own sword (limited supplies)
  • Haggis Toss
  • Highland Golf

Other activities your family can enjoy are the Gilded Thistle Acting Group (the AJW fellas will setup the stage Friday the 14th), Highland Cattle from Flashover Farm, Celtic Crafts, Blackfeather Broadsword Academy.
